We Are The World

We all need to stop for a second close our eyes and breathe. Feel our chest expand and contract as the air floods and escapes our lungs. Feel the rhythm of the amazing muscle that is our heart pound in our chest sending bloody surging through our bodies. Feel the love in our soul for all things that we value both human or otherwise. Feel alive and capable of living an exceptional life, enriching both ourselves and others.

And that's all that matters. That we use the air in lungs, blood in our veins and love in our hearts to make this world a stronger, more united, brighter place.

I don't care what colour your skin is, where your from, where your parents are from. I don't care if you're a boy who likes kissing boys or a girl who likes kissing girls or someone who just likes kissing everyone. I don't care if you identify with being a man or a woman. It doesn't matter if you never finished secondary school or if you have a doctorate in Biomechanics. I'm not fussed who you pray to at night or even if you pray at all. You want to be a lawyer, a zoologist, a singer, a doctor, a pilot, a chef, a stay at home parent, a gardener, a teacher, well frankly my dear I don't give a damn.

As long as in the moments where our lives cross we treat each other with understanding and respect then we're all good. So you may have been brought up in an eight bed mansion with full housekeeping staff or you might have lived in a one bedroom flat with your eight siblings; none of that plays a factor in my treatment of you - if you're clearly elderly, I'll give you my seat on the tube - all the fundamentals don't matter. I'm just a human helping out another human.

We judge too often, too harshly and too ignorantly. I choose not to watch the news as I don't wish to just be shown parts of a story and to be told to feel a certain way depending on which channel its on. However in the days of social media its hard to miss certain stories. Cultural appropriation and racism, refugees and migrants, extremism and political injustices can sometimes flood my news feeds. But unless your views involve causing harm to a specific group of people, you are entitled to your own opinion and I will not judge you for that as I know if I was hurt you would help me; without wondering which parent is the black one or if me choosing my career over my relationship was a good choice. You are just being a human helping another human. No questions, no judgement, just love.

I know this is a lot of rambling for something that I see as simple. We are all humans, we are all alive, that means we are all capable of facilitating change for the better. Don't play the victim, help those who truly are. Don't point the finger, accept responsibility for your own actions. Don't ignore injustice, incite change.

Peel away the skin, take away the material aspects we are all pretty much the same on the inside so why do such insignificant factors affect how we treat others who breathe, sleep, laugh and cry just like we do?

Just make sure that everyone day you are a good human. That you are willing to help out all the other good humans out there. You should only ever look down on someone when you are helping them up. Because there will come a time when you will reach out and be thankful for the hand that helps you.
